Description

Giddins interviews Zachary Leader, biographer of Kingsley Amis and Saul Bellow and editor of the new collection of essays On Life-Writing; and Phyllis Rose, author of the group biography Parallel Lives: Five Victorian Marriages and the recent literary memoir The Shelf: From LEQ-LES: Adventures in Extreme Reading. Leader is Professor of English Literature at Roehampton University in London, author of Writer’s Block and books on the Romantics, and is General Editor of the forthcoming
seven-volume Oxford History of Life-Writing. Rose is Professor of English Emerita at Wesleyan University and editor of The Norton Book of Women’s Lives, author of biographies of Virginia Woolf and Josephine Baker, the essay collections Writing of Women and Never Say Goodbye, and the memoir The Year of Reading Proust.
