Now Accepting Applications for the Futures of American Studies Institute (Summer 2018)

The American Studies Certificate Program will continue its relationship with the Futures of American Studies Institute at Dartmouth College, and that we will be able to sponsor 4 GC students to attend the Futures Institute this summer for the weeklong institute held from MONDAY JUNE 18, 2018 - SUNDAY JUNE 24, 2018. Participation in the Futures institute is an important part of the Certificate Program's commitment to providing opportunities for intellectual community and professionalization.  Now in its twentieth year, the Futures of American Studies Institute is designed to provide a shared space of critical inquiry that brings the participants’ work-in-progress to the attention of a network of influential scholars. In essence, the Futures Institute offers advanced graduate students the opportunity to present their work to some of the leading American Studies scholars, as well as interact with advanced students from leading doctoral programs across the country.  The faculty participants in this summer's institute include: Donald E. Pease, Colleen Boggs, Soyica Diggs Colbert, Elizabeth Maddock Dillon, Winfried Fluck, Donatella Izzo, Cindi Katz, Eng-Beng Lim,   Eric W. Lott, Monique Allewaert, Victor Bascara, Lauren Berlant, Tony Bogues, Chris Castiglia, Brian Edwards, James E. Dobson, Stefano Harney, Andrew Hebard, Ronald Judy, Lauren Klein, Fred Moten, Hortense Spillers, Patricia Stuelke,  Kyla Tompkins, Ivy Wilson, and Lynda Zwinger.

In order to apply for one of these fellowships (which will cover registration, housing, roundtrip transportation by the Dartmouth Coach to and from NYC, and tuition), students must be Level III by the end of this semester and be a member of American Studies Certificate Program.

Applications are due by 5:00 PM on Monday, April 30th

1) a brief description of your current project (no more than 300 words)
