Shima is a PhD candidate in Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center. Their research examines the politics of infrastructure in Iran and technonatural transformations of Iranian national modernity during the Cold War. Shima holds an MA in Near Eastern Studies from NYU and a BA in Political Science and French Language and Literature from the University of Washington. Shima teaches anthropology at Hunter College and was a Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Fellow at BMCC.
