- Dr. Ivan Assenov Anastassov wins fellowship from National Institute of Health
CUNY Biology Ph.D. Program alumnus Dr. Ivan Assenov Anastassov is presently a post-doctoral fellow at Baylor College of Medicine and has recently received a highly-competitive fellowship from the National Institutes of Health. The 3-year National Research Service Award (NRSA) will fund Dr. Anastassov’s research on a molecular “channel” that is critical to visual information processing (how our brains receive and interpret what is seen through the eye). Dr. Anastassov completed his doctoral thesis research with Prof. Richard Chappel (Hunter College) and describes himself as a “grateful CUNY graduate.” The Biology Program is pleased, as always, to share the success story of yet another of our outstanding alumni.
