Research Interests: Mijin Kim is a doctoral candidate (ABD) at CUNY Graduate Center/John Jay College of Criminal Justice and she was a former graduate research fellow at Vera Institute of Justice. Her research interest focuses primarily on policies and practices in prisons and jails, specifically in identifying institutional problems to understand how confinement conditions impact behavior while incarcerated and post-release. She is currently working on her dissertation titled "Behavioral Effects of Restrictive Housing on Prisoners," which seeks to assess the impact of restrictive housing on inmate misconduct based on the housing type and to identify any mitigating or aggravating factors related to the harms involved with restrictive housing experience. To date, she has co-authored three articles in peer-reviewed journals.
