The English Program is committed to providing an opportunity to pursue the Ph.D. to as many qualified candidates as it can accommodate. During the past ten years, in contrast to the Modern Language Association's (MLA) grim statistics nation-wide, we have been able to place in full-time tenure track positions a larger percentage of our graduates seeking such employment than is the national average.

Together with the Program's Placement Committee, which includes several faculty members and students, one of the English Program's Deputy Executive Officers oversees a program to assist students who have nearly or recently completed the Ph.D. degree find permanent jobs in universities and colleges.
