For Prospective Students
The music program at the CUNY Graduate Center is one of the premiere doctoral-granting institutions in music studies in the world. It offers degrees in five concentrations: Composition, Ethnomusicology, Musicology, Performance, and Theory/Analysis. If you are interested in applying to the program, feel free to contact the executive officer, Norman Carey, or any of the area heads listed below. We are happy to facilitate campus visits for prospective students.
All students admitted into the Graduate Center music programs will receive tuition remission. Most Ph.D. and several D.M.A. students will receive a 5-year Graduate Center Fellowship. See the Fellowships and Grants page for details on additional funding sources.
