Description

Etudes Project, Vol. 1
Jenny Lin & ICEBERG New Music

The ICEBERG Etude Project is a groundbreaking exploration of keyboard virtuosity in the twenty-first century. Pianist Jenny Lin has partnered with ICEBERG New Music, a collective of 10 composers based in New York City, to create a program of solo piano etudes that juxtapose new sounds against some of the most challenging and thrilling works from the existing repertoire. Ms. Lin will perform a diverse selection of new etudes that run the stylistic gamut from pop-inspired dance music to thorny avant-garde constructions. Each of these pieces will be paired with an existing etude - by composers such as Chopin, Debussy, Glass, Kapustin, Ligeti, and Liszt - inviting listeners to search for connections between virtuosic piano writing from the past and present. This program will be presented in multiple venues around the United States (including on a live national broadcast of Relevant Tones with Seth Boustead) and released by the Sono Luminus label in 2019.
