Dr. Freudenberg is a Distinguished Professor of Public Health at the CUNY School of Public Health and directs the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute and Healthy CUNY, a University Initiative that promotes health for academic success of CUNY students. For more than 30 years, he has worked with community organizations, civic groups and government agencies to develop, implement and evaluate interventions to improve the health of disadvantaged urban communities. His current research focuses on three areas: Food policies that promote equitable, healthy urban communities; developing and evaluating intervention that enable low-income college students to overcome health and social problems that undermine academic success; and the impact on population health of corporate practices in the food, alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceutical, firearms and automobile industries.www.sph.cuny.eduwww.cunyurbanfoodpolicy.org
