Dr. Hatcher is director of the Wellness Center at the CUNY Graduate Center and affiliated professor in the Psychology Program. He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Psychotherapy Research, Psychotherapy, Psychotherapy Integration., and Training and Education in Professional Psychology. He is a Fellow in four American Psychological Association (APA) divisions and is the chair of the Fellows Committee of the Association for the Advancement of Psychotherapy, APA Division 29. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Association of Psychology Training Clinics (APTC) as president emeritus. He has received the 2012 Paul Nelson Award for distinguished service from the APA Council of Chairs of Training Councils, a 2014 APA Presidential Citation, the 2015 APA Distinguished Contributions of Applications of Psychology to Training and Education award, the 2016 Jean Spruill Achievement Award from APTC, and gave the 2021 Rosalie G. Weiss Lecture for Outstanding Leaders, awarded by the American Psychological Foundation. His research interests include the therapeutic alliance, interpersonal measurement, psychology practicum and internship training, and professional competencies in psychology.
