Dr. Ellman was a faculty member of the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at City University of New York (CUNY) for many years. He was previously Director of the Program and is now Professor Emeritus at CUNY. He is a training analyst (Fellow) and faculty member at IPTAR and was President of IPTAR twice. He was the first President of the Confederation of Independent Psychoanalytic Societies (CIPS) and was a founding member of this organization. He was recently (2012) the Program Chair of the Congress of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). He was a member of the Executive Committee of the IPA and the House of Delegates. He is a faculty member of the Psychoanalytic Institute at NYU Medical School. He is now a supervisor and faculty member of NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.
Dr. Ellman is both a clinician and researcher and has received over 20 grants from NIMH, NIH and NSF. His recent book, When Theories Touch was nominated for a Gradiva award in 2010.
