Research Interests: gender and sexuality, sexual violence, abortion, stigma, medical sociology, qualitative and quantitative methods

Andréa has an M.A. in Sociology from Vanderbilt University. Her Master’s Thesis focused on perceptions of cyberstalking in the context of heteronormativity, sexual scripts, and gender. She received her B.A. from Wake Forest University where she studied Sociology, Women’s and Gender Studies, and received a concentration in Social Determinants of Health. She is currently an NSF GRFP fellow and her interests include gender & sexuality, sexual violence, medical sociology, and race & ethnicity. Current projects include qualitative work examining the narratives of women who have received abortions and interviews with abortion activists in “red” states, in addition to quantitative projects on perceptions of sexual assault and cyberstalking.
