We announce with sadness the recent death of Professor Emeritus Marion Peter Holt. Professor Holt served on the faculty of the Graduate Center and the College of Staten Island. A leading scholar of and advocate for contemporary Spanish and Catalan theatre, he will also be remembered for his vibrant English-language play translations, many of which have been published and staged in New York, London, Melbourne, and in regional and university theatres across the United States.

The Professionalization Committee provides a series of in-house events with the aim of preparing students to become professionals in the field of theater and performance studies. Areas covered include events related to demystifying the profession, which cover conferences, publishing, and the academic job search. Within the academic job search, workshops are held focused on developing a CV and teaching philosophy. We also have a series focused on applied pedagogy, in which we share best practices in the classroom including innovations in digital pedagogy, relevancy of curricular development, and classroom management. Each semester we will list planned events here—all students are encouraged to attend.
