The Graduate Center's Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness makes data available on alumni through Tableau. For Urban Education, data shows:
- In recent years, 7-22 doctoral degrees have been awarded annually.
- The current (as of Fall 2020) median time-to-degree is 6.7 years (by graduation year) and 4.7 years (by entering cohort).
- Graduates (2003-2016) work in following job sectors: education (75%) and non-profit (12%).

Graduates of the Urban Education program are working in a wide variety of important roles in urban education:
- research and teaching in universities, including teacher education programs;
- research and leadership positions in urban school districts and in state and federal government agencies;
- policy analysis positions for private foundations; and staff positions with legislators and legislative committees.
