Research by Recent Alumna Noted in Harvard Publication

Rachel Lambert, a February 2013 graduate of the Ph.D. Program in Urban Education, was quoted extensively by education journalist Laura Pappano in “Changing the Face of Math: Student perceptions may hold the key to mastering a ‘cold’ subject,” Harvard Education Letter (May/June 2013), a  publication of Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Pappano was particularly interested in Dr. Lambert’s dissertation research, which entailed following nine sixth and seventh graders for two years and studying their development (or not) of math identities. The title of Lambert’s dissertation is “Authoring Mathematical Selves.”
