- Philosophy Alumna Wins Guggenheim Fellowship
Alumna Eva Kittay (Philosophy, 1978) has been named a 2014 Guggenheim Fellow in the humanities. A distinguished professor of philosophy at Stony Brook University and a senior fellow of the Stony Brook Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics, she has been a pioneering scholar on questions of care and disability in the realm of philosophy. Her most recent coauthored book is Cognitive Disability and Its Challenge to Moral Philosophy (2010).
Kittay was named 2003 Distinguished Woman Philosopher by the Eastern Society for Women in Philosophy, and among her numerous honors are a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Center for Discovery and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
