Join Us for Public Programs

Office of the President

Dear Colleagues,

Today, I am very pleased to announce to the GC community our new season of public programs, “GC Presents.” You will shortly receive another email with a link to the programs and how to register.

Among our events this fall are a conversation with renowned biographer, Robert Caro, author of The Power Broker and The Years of Lyndon Johnson; and new programs in our Democracy series, including a panel on “Racism and Democracy” moderated by former Spelman College president Johnnetta Cole. We are excited to help launch AndrĂ© Aciman’s new novel, Find Me, the sequel to his acclaimed Call Me by Your Name. He will be in conversation with The New Yorker’s Hilton Als. And Branko Milanovic will discuss his important new work about wealth inequality, Capitalism, Alone: The Future of the System that Rules the World.

These events are free, open to the public, and very popular.

Again this year, we want to make sure that Graduate Center faculty, students, and staff have first priority to reserve their seats.

So, beginning today through Tuesday, September 3rd, registration will be open to The Graduate Center community. On September 4th, registration will open to the public.

In addition to “GC Presents,” we will also share information throughout the year about the many programs and events presented by our departments and centers. These are posted on the GC Calendar.

Public programs are essential elements of our intellectual life here, and they highlight our important public role in New York City.

I look forward to seeing you at these stellar programs.
