Counseling Services at The Graduate Center During COVID-19
Student Counseling Services (SCS) continues to provide individual and group counseling to registered GC students who are currently living or staying in New York State via phone or videoconferencing.
Due to state regulations, we are unfortunately unable to provide counseling to students currently living or staying outside of NY.
We are happy to announce that Talkspace is now a free benefit for all CUNY students.
CUNY is partnering with Talkspace to bring you convenient, personal, and professional online messaging therapy. With Talkspace, you can regularly send text, audio, and video messages to a dedicated licensed therapist anytime, anywhere. Talkspace is confidential and secure. Register here with your CUNY email address.
The process should take less than 30 days from the time that you enter your email to register until you gain access to the Talkspace services. You can check whether you have access by re-entering your email again into: CUNY - Talkspace. If 30 days pass and you still do not have access, please email the Wellness Center.
If your email address is not recognized when you first enter it, also email the Wellness Center giving us permission to pass along your email address to the CUNY Central administrator who would manually put you into the Talkspace system. (He is a mental health professional and would not share your information with anyone other than Talkspace.)
SCS is still able to offer the following support services to all registered students, and have increased the number of services that we are offering to students regardless of location:
This website, along with our Facebook and Twitter pages, will be updated with new information and offerings as they become available.
To Schedule a Consultation or Request Referral Services:
Please download our Request for Services form and email to firstname.lastname@example.org (note that this is a non-secure means of transmission) along with a picture of your student I.D. with current validation sticker.
Telehealth services are available for students with NYSHIP Insurance.
Speak with a doctor from the comfort of your home or schedule a virtual visit with a therapist. The Empire Plan will be covering these visits at no cost to you. Please register with Live Health Online, visit the Empire Plan page for more information.
