Brazil's national elections will be held on October 5 with the second round runoff election for governor and president scheduled for October 26. Professor David Fleischer will discuss the election campaigns of the three major presidential candidates - incumbent President Dilma Rousseff (PT), Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB) and Eduardo Campos (PSB) - through the end of June. He will review the results of the election polls and the articulation of these candidates' election coalitions. In addition, he will review the election campaigns for governor in the 27 states.

David Fleischer is Emeritus Professor of Political Science at the University of Brasília where has taught since 1972. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida. His research focus is on elections, political parties, the Brazilian Congress, and transparency. He has been a visiting professor at the UFMG, SUNY-Albany, the University of Florida and George Washington University.
Mauricio Font is director of the Bildner Center for Western Hemisphere Studies and professor of sociology at The Graduate Center and Queens College, City University of New York. His research examines problems of development and reform in Brazil, Cuba and Latin America as well as international cooperation in the Western Hemisphere.
