The Mina Rees Society recognizes and honors those individuals who have made legacy gifts to the Graduate Center, through bequests, life income gifts, or other forms of planned giving. Membership in the Mina Rees Society inspires others to consider making planned gifts and creates a sense of community for alumni, faculty, and friends, whose gifts are intended to secure the future of the Graduate Center.
Mina S. Rees, as the first President of the Graduate Center, set the direction and standards that propelled the Graduate Center to the eminence it enjoys today. Her determination ensured that the Graduate Center embodied both equality and excellence; these remain its guiding principles. In her will Rees made bequests to create fellowships for students of mathematics and a chair of mathematics. Her generosity and commitment to the Graduate Center exemplifies the foundation of all planned gifts, large and small.
By becoming a member of the Mina Rees Society you can provide for future generations of students and faculty, sustain centers and special initiatives and facilities through a bequest in your will; by making the Graduate Center the beneficiary of an IRA, other retirement plan, or life insurance policy; through life income gifts such as a Graduate Center gift annuity, charitable lead trust or charitable remainder trust; or through a gift of real estate or remainder interest in a personal residence.
To become a member simply indicate your desire to do so; information on the amount or nature of a bequest is not required, although we would welcome it. Details of your gift will remain confidential and you may request anonymity. We hope that you will allow us to list you as a member of the Mina Rees Society and to celebrate you as someone who has helped provide for the Graduate Center’s future.
