The CUNY System
The City University of New York is the nation’s largest urban public university. It spans 25 campuses across the city’s five boroughs and serves 275,000 degree-seeking students of all ages. The Graduate Center, founded the same year as CUNY, is an integral part of CUNY and its success as an engine of social mobility.
Conceived as a consortium within CUNY, the Graduate Center draws leading faculty from throughout CUNY to teach classes and mentor students. Most Graduate Center students teach at the CUNY campuses. Students in the sciences typically conduct research with faculty mentors at campus-based labs and at the Advanced Science Research Center.
