Online Statistical Data Analysis of Census Bureau Datasets
The CUNY Data Service at the Center for Urban Research has developed this site to enable users including the larger CUNY community to undertake statistical data analysis of selected US Census Bureau datasets via the Web.
The online statistical data analysis program uses a system called Survey Documentation and Analysis (SDA) that was developed and maintained by the Computer Assisted Survey Methods Program (CSM) at the University of California, Berkeley. More information about these programs is available at the SDA Web site.
Online statistical data analysis enables users to perform online analysis directly over the Web without downloading files. This is especially useful for users who do not have statistical software installed on their current workstation.
Datasets prepared by the Center for Urban Research:
- Census 2000 Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) data for New York City, New York State and for the entire USA
- 2005 American Community Survey for the entire USA including Puerto Rico, New York City, New York State and the New York Metropolitan Area.
- 2006 Current Population Survey, March Supplement is also available.
Online data analysis is ideal for users who would like to:
- Frequencies and crosstabulations (including charts)
- Comparisons of means
- Correlation matrix
- Comparisons of correlations
- Regression (ordinary least squares)
- Logit and probit regression
- List values of individual cases
Create new variables
- Recode one or more variables
- Compute a new variable
