Dissertation Proposal and Final Defense

Please Note

Please alert the APO of all Proposals and Defenses. Once alerted, the link will be added to the above list for public viewing and joining. All proposals or defenses must be organized and displayed on this site by the APO. Please keep in mind that it is the student's responsibility to notify advisors and committee members of possible defenses or proposals. It is also the student's responsibility to gather and ask for necessary documents for graduation.

Please request six weeks in advance for your final defense. You must fill out the below form and submit to the APO to be submitted to the Provost Office. Form

After permission is granted and on the day of the Defense please have all committee members fill out the attached form after the graduating student’s defense. Form

To submit the paperwork please either:

A. Each Professor sign the pdf report and email EO and APO the signed pdf for processing (Preferably all in one email chain)
Or
B. Each Professor email the EO and APO that the defense is approved and concurred (or not)

Additional Note: We need signatures on the form or CUNY emails with approval or concurrence from the committee chair, the EO and all the committee members. All emails must come from the committee member’s CUNY or official university email address. Ideally, you would put all of those into one PDF but you can also forward individual emails to us if necessary. The email should state the name of the student, the program and the approval.
