Abstract: Cori Hayden is Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley, where she conducts research and teaches on the anthropology of science, technology and medicine, with an emphasis in Latin America. She recently served as the Chair of the Department of Anthropology at UC Berkeley and was the Director of the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society from 2010-2013. Hayden is the author of When Nature Goes Public (Princeton University Press, 2003), and The Spectacular Generic: Pharmaceuticals and the Simipolitical in Mexico (2023, Duke University Presss. She is currently writing on Crowds and Clouds, a nexus for contemporary market formations, political atmospheres, aesthetic possibilities, and modes of inquiry.
