How did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, an unknown bartender and activist, become the youngest woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and one of the most talked-about figures in the world? Join us for a discussion of the new book Take Up Space: The Unprecedented AOC, a kaleidoscopic biography from the editors of New York magazine, featuring Lisa Miller, who contributed a riveting account of AOC’s unlikely rise, and Rebecca Traister, whose essay explains why AOC is an unprecedented figure in American politics. Miller and Traister, both writers for New York, join in conversation about AOC’s impact and possible future with Michael Kazin, professor of history at Georgetown University and author of What It Took to Win: A History of the Democratic Party.

A video of this event will be posted a few days later on our YouTube Channel.

This event will take place online, and closed captions will be provided. Please contact Jimmy Cok at jcok@gc.cuny.edu with additional accessibility requests, questions, or concerns.
