Release of Information

The Graduate Center has been advised by The City University of New York's Office of Legal Affairs that it should secure written permission from every member of the staff before releasing any information concerning the employee to individuals or organizations. Included would be routine credit inquires, bank inquires, and numerous others that result from an employee initiated action.

New employees indicate at the time of appointment whether information on their status may be released. Those who do not sign general releases will review each inquiry and written authorization individually prior to approval and release.

Human Resources requires businesses and organizations seeking employee information to make written inquiries on organization form or stationery rather than by telephone. The Graduate Center's policy is to provide no information concerning staff members over the telephone.
