Institutional Advancement
The Office of Institutional Advancement partners with academic programs and GC centers and institutes to strengthen a culture of philanthropy across the school and increase private gifts in support of institutional priorities.
We do this by:
- Identifying potential funding sources including private foundations, corporations, and individuals, and collaborating with programs and centers on fundraising strategy
- Providing guidance on grant-writing and budget development
- Advising on major gift strategy and various giving vehicles, including planned gifts
- Coordinating alumni fundraising appeals, both online and traditional print mailings, in conjunction with the departments
- Assisting with the design and execution of cultivation events for potential donors and alumni
- Tracking, reporting, and stewarding private gifts, which includes producing accurate tax-receipts for donors as well as specialized reports for larger gifts
- Managing and cultivating the Graduate Center Foundation Board, who serve as institutional ambassadors and are tasked with identifying new funding sources and supporters for the GC
