The academic center of the CUNY Neuroscience Collaborative (CNC) is centrally located at the Graduate Center in the heart of Manhattan, with research labs and opportunities spread across all boroughs of the city. Our students reflect the diversity of New York City, and our program is committed to a continuing tradition of training students from diverse backgrounds.
Training the next generation of research neuroscientists requires that graduate students be provided with an broad range of didactic course work spanning the disciplines of biology and psychology, have the opportunity to undertake research training in any of the neuroscience subdisciplines across the range from molecular, cellular, developmental, systems, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, and the possibility of acquiring skills in neurochemistry, neurophysiology, computational approaches, neural imaging and neurobehavioral analysis. To provide such training, the neuroscience doctoral programs in Biology and Psychology have integrated to form the CUNY Neuroscience Collaborative. Faculty from both disciplines work together as a single integrated unit, in the admissions and assessment process, the teaching of an integrated First Year Neuroscience Curriculum, the presentation of a Neuroscience Seminar Series and the supervision of students during First Year Rotations and Dissertation development.

M.A. in Behavioral Neuroscience
A research oriented program that prepares students with the knowledge and skills necessary for acceptance into competitive neuroscience doctoral programs or employment in industry. The curriculum provides a rigorous overview of neuroscience, including molecular, cellular, systems, cognitive and behavioral neuroscience and a two semester quantitative methods sequence. Students learn about neuroscience as a profession (ethics, writing/communication, scientific talks and communication) in both coursework and research activities. A research based thesis is required.
At College of Staten Island
M.S. in Neuroscience & Developmental Disabilities
The Center for Developmental Neuroscience and Developmental Disabilities at the College and the New York State Institute for Basic Research on Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities offer a broad interdisciplinary program leading to the Master of Science degree. Courses integrate relevant subject matter in the areas of biology, chemistry, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, and sociology, and students have a unique opportunity to explore both neuroscientific and applied aspects of the normally and abnormally developing brain, as well as recent advances in the cognitive sciences.
