David Harvey to Receive Honorary Doctorate from London School of Economics

Distinguished Professor David Harvey (Anthropology/History/Earth and Environmental Sciences) will receive an honorary doctorate in social science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
 
A leading theorist in the field of urban studies whom Library Journal called 'one of the most influential geographers of the later twentieth century,' Harvey has written numerous influential books, among them Seventeen Contradictions and the End of Capitalism (2014), A Companion to Marx's Capital (2013), Social Justice and the City (2009), and The Urbanization of Capital (1985).

His reflections on the importance of space and place (and more recently 'nature') have attracted considerable attention across the humanities and social sciences.
 
Harvey holds honorary degrees from three other British universities - Bristol, Goldsmith College (London), and Kent - as well as the universities of Buenos Aires, Roskilde (Denmark), and Uppsala (Sweden), and Ohio State University.

The doctorate will be presented in December.
