Researchers in the lab of Patrizia Casaccia, director of the Neuroscience Initiative at the Advance Science Research Center (ASRC) at The Graduate Center, CUNY, have identified an enzyme, called PRMT5, which they believe regulates the number of myelin-producing cells in the brain and spinal cord. Their discovery may open new ways of treating multiple sclerosis and other diseases characterized by myelin loss or impaired production
