A Nobel Laureate Takes on Trump in Her Latest Play

"On the Royal Road: The Burgher King," a new play about President Trump written by the Nobel laureate Elfriede Jelinek, will have its first presentation next week in the United States. Excerpts from the play -- which is scheduled to have its premiere this fall at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, Germany -- will be read on Monday at the Martin E. Segal Theater Center at the CUNY Graduate Center..."She's a very ferocious writer for the theater," Frank Hentschker, the theater center's executive director, said, and added that her recent plays had reckoned with current events.
