GC FORWARD #15: 70% IN-PERSON FOR SPRING 2022

Dear Graduate Center community,
In this last GC Forward of the semester, we are sharing updates on the recently announced policy for on campus staffing in Spring 2022, the return of the Vax Van, and on-campus COVID-19 testing.
70% In-Person Work for Spring 2022
Beginning spring 2022, all CUNY employees will be expected to spend 70% of their work time at their campus or CUNY office, which is equivalent to 7 out of 10 days of in-person work in a two-week cycle. The Office of Human Resources shared this policy with Graduate Center managers on December 8.
This new policy begins on Friday, January 28, 2022, the first day of the spring semester. It is intended to support the continued return to on-campus activities. It allows for teams or groups of teams to be in the same place (on-site or remote) on the same days as needed. When feasible, managers can offer flexible start and end time options.
Not every position lends itself to remote work. Decisions about remote work will be based on individual staff members’ roles and responsibilities, with managers making decisions for staff in their purview. Employees will work with their managers to revise and submit new temporary remote work agreements.
The Return of the Vax Van
The Graduate Center welcomes the return of the NYC Health and Hospitals Vax Van. It will be parked adjacent to the Graduate Center from Tuesday, December 14, through Thursday, December 16, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. First and booster doses of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available. Walk-ups only. No appointments. Learn more here.
As a reminder: Students who plan to take in-person or hybrid classes in Spring 2022 must be fully vaccinated. Details are here.
On-Site COVID-19 Testing
The Graduate Center’s COVID testing center is operating Monday through Friday and is currently located in the James Gallery on the first floor. It is only available to individuals who are in the testing pool or who are selected for random testing. Information about hours and appointments for our testing center and others throughout CUNY are available on CUNY’s website here.
Questions about campus reopening, building access, and the vaccination policy can be directed to reactivation@gc.cuny.edu. Thank you for continuing to keep the Graduate Center community safe, strong, and connected.
