GC Forward #17: Get Tested, Stay Safe

April 26, 2022

GC Forward

Dear Graduate Center community,

Welcome back from spring break. We encourage everyone, especially those returning from travel, to take advantage of the free, on-site COVID-19 testing that CUNY offers at the Graduate Center and at locations throughout the University. Frequent testing is an important way to protect your health and keep others safe.

Read on for details about testing, vaccination, and the upcoming Commencement ceremony on Thursday, June 9.

Get Tested

CUNY offers free, on-campus PCR tests to all students, faculty, and staff. In addition to the Graduate Center testing site in the first-floor Foundation Lounge, there are 19 other testing locations across CUNY. No appointments are needed. Learn more here.

The University continues to monitor campus and University-wide positivity rates through its mandatory, random COVID-19 testing program.

Please remember that students, faculty, staff, vendors, and campus visitors are obligated to report if they have tested positive for COVID-19 to the Health Monitoring Liaison by sending an email to COVID-19screening@gc.cuny.edu.

Students – Remember to Upload Proof of Vaccination

Thank you to all the students who have already uploaded proof of their COVID-19 vaccination to CUNYfirst. Proof of vaccination (two doses of m-RNA vaccines such as Moderna or Pfizer or one dose of a single-shot vaccine such as Johnson & Johnson) is required to take in-person and hybrid summer and fall 2022 classes. If you plan to enroll in summer or fall, please take a moment to upload your vaccination information if you have not already done so.

See the CUNY policy here, and contact the Campus Location Vaccine Authority Liaisons at lva@gc.cuny.edu with any questions.

Faculty and Staff Need to Upload Proof of Vaccination by May 27

Please note that all full- and part-time faculty and non-teaching instructional staff (including NTAs, CLTs, and those in the HEO-title series) and ECPs are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

They must upload proof of vaccination (two doses of m-RNA vaccines such as Moderna or Pfizer or one dose of a single-shot vaccine such as Johnson & Johnson) to CUNYfirst by Friday, May 27, 2022.

Employees in these titles must upload proof of vaccination in CUNYfirst by May 27 even if they are currently working or teaching remotely. See the CUNY policy here.

Please reach out to the Health Monitoring Liaison at COVID-19screening@gc.cuny.edu with any questions.

Stay Safe, Be Mindful

We are working together as a community to keep one another safe. While CUNY has lifted its temporary mask mandate, masking is recommended.

Free vaccines and tests are available throughout New York and in other states. Watch for announcements about the return of the Vax Van to campus.

As a reminder, all students, faculty, and staff must register for Commencement by Thursday, May 12.
