Next week, the CUNY Graduate Center opens “60 Years, Selections from the Graduate Center Art Collection” in its first-floor James Gallery. Part of a year-long celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Graduate Center, the art exhibition features paintings and sculptures by well-known American artists including John Ferren, Carl Holty, Betty Parsons, and Marjorie Strider.

The works from the 1950s through the 1970s represent the strengths of the Graduate Center collection in abstract and modern art. Many were last displayed decades ago. With the installation in the James Gallery, members of the Graduate Center community and the public can enjoy them again.
