Mourning the Lives Lost and the Devastation in Turkey and Syria

Dear Graduate Center community,
Along with Chancellor Matos Rodríguez, we at the Graduate Center mourn the lives lost and devastation caused by the catastrophic earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Our thoughts are with all in our community who are directly affected by this tragedy, especially our students, faculty, and staff who have family, loved ones, and ties to the region. You have our deepest sympathies at this difficult time.
Please know that we have services available to provide support and guidance. The Wellness Center’s Student Counseling Services office is ready to assist students. The center has recently partnered with CareSolace, a confidential service that connects students and their family members with local licensed in-network/affordable mental health professionals. CareSolace has extended this service to faculty and staff members and their families as well. Learn more here. Also, the CUNY Work/Life program provides free, confidential counseling to faculty and staff.
This terrible tragedy reminds us how deeply interconnected we are to one another. Let us all be mindful of those within and beyond our community who are suffering, and continue to act and engage with care and compassion.
Sincerely,
Robin L. Garrell
President
