PRELUDE Festival Launches Second Decade
PRELUDE, the annual festival dedicated to artists at the forefront of contemporary New York City theatre and performance, celebrates its tenth anniversary at the Graduate Center this fall. 'Forward' is this year's theme.
The three-day festival will be held October 2 to 4 at the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center; events, which are free, run from 4 to 9 pm each day. Caleb Hammons, associate producer at the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College, curates this year in collaboration with the Segal Center's executive director, Frank Hentschker.
PRELUDE.13 will recognize and reflect on the community of artists, audience, scholars, and other participants who have contributed to its first ten years of discourse-as well as presenting the voices, ideas, and debates that are colliding to shape the future direction of theatre and performance in New York City.
Participating artists, who will offer in-process presentations, open rehearsals, and discussions, include 600 Highwaymen, Animals, Caesar Alvarez & Sarah Benson, Big Art Group, Big Dance Theater, Katherine Brook, Elastic City, Woodshed Collective, Daniel Fish, Cynthia Hopkins, Taylor Mac, James Monaco & Jerome Ellis, Andrew Ondrejcak, and PearlDamour. More artists will be announced in September.
