Harry G. Levine, a professor of sociology at Queens College and The Graduate Center of The City University of New York, has suggested that police keep an eye out for marijuana since people arrested for possession tend to be nonviolent and aren't likely to vomit in the police car like those arrested for drunkenness. Arrests at the end of a shift can be an easy way to rack up overtime.
