Distinguished professors Richard Alba (GC) and Nancy Foner (Hunter) of the Ph.D. Program in Sociology have been appointed to the National Academy of Sciences panel on the Integration of Immigrants into American Society. The aim of the project is to facilitate a more informed discussion of the issues surrounding current immigration in the United States. The committee will summarize what we know about how immigrants are integrating into American society, discuss the implications of this knowledge for various policy options, and identify any important gaps in our current knowledge and data availability. The study will be completed over a two-year period, and the final product will be a published report. Read about it here.
