Thomas G. Weiss Receives International Studies Association Award

Presidential Professor Thomas G. Weiss (Political Science), Director Emeritus of the GC's Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, will receive the 2016 Distinguished Scholar Award from the International Organization Section of the International Studies Association.

The ISA is the largest association of scholars of international studies, with about 6,500 members. Weiss will receive the award at the association's conference in March.

Weiss, a leading expert on the theory and practice of humanitarian intervention, has taught, lectured, and conducted research on a variety of issues in international relations for more than 40 years. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the author or editor of more than 50 books.

This year, Weiss published a new volume of Wartime Origins and the Future of the United Nations (Routledge). He discussed the origins of war and the UN's 'forgotten' history in an interview with SiriusXM.
