Conversation focused on a new volume of Wartime Origins and the Future United Nations (Routledge, 2015), which Weiss co-edited. In the interview, he discussed how contemporary policymakers and analysts are largely unaware of the wartime history of the UN's founding.
Weiss, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, is the author or editor of more than 50 books on topics related to the United Nations. Between 1998, when he first came to the Graduate Center, and 2014, he served as director of the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies.
Weiss currently directs two research projects at the GC: Wartime History and the Future UN, and the Future United Nations Development System.
