Dr. Benzion Chanowitz is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. Dr. Chanowitz also has an appointment on the doctoral faculty of the Cognition, Brain and Behavior sub-program at the Graduate Center, CUNY. After completing his Ph.D. in the Social/Personality Psychology program of the Graduate Center, CUNY in 1983, Dr. Chanowitz filled a number of positions at Harvard University at its Psychology Department (as a Post-Doctoral Fellow), its Medical School (as a Research Associate, as a Clinical Research Training Fellow, and as a Clinical Instructor), and at its Business School (as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management). In 1986, he joined the faculty of the Psychology Department at Brooklyn College; and that is current primary appointment. Since 1997, he has served there as Deputy Chair for Graduate Studies in Psychology, responsible for the administration of four M.A. programs. His research interests include: social psychology, organizational psychology, social cognition, and the history and philosophy of psychology.
