Research Interests

  • Pavlovian Conditioning; Timing and Temporal Control

  • Ph.D., Yale University

Dr. Brown’s research has focused on animal and human associative learning, including Pavlovian salivary conditioning and pigeon autoshaping preparations. His work demonstrated the sensitivity of organisms to temporal relations among CS and US events, even in preparations that were thought to be associatively inert. His more recent research demonstrated the role of working memory in animal timing, and his current interests focus on the role of motivational and emotional factors in both animal and human timing. He is a fellow of the Eastern Psychological Association and Division 3 of the American Psychological Association and collaborates as visiting scientist with colleagues at the University of Paris XI.
