Dr. Cullen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences at Bronx Community College and the NOAA-CREST Institute at City College of New York, CUNY. She received her BS in Geology and MS in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences from City College, and she received her Earth and Environmental Sciences Ph.D. from the Graduate Center in 2016. While going to school, Dr. Cullen spent several years working as Risk Manager and Sustainability Director at City College. After completion of her Ph.D. she joined the faculty of Bronx Community College in 2017. Dr. Cullen specializes in the use of satellite-based Earth observations and numerical modeling for improving detection, and assessments/forecast of natural hazards. Her main focus of research is rainfall-triggered shallow landslides, but she also participates in urban flooding and forest fires modeling. Her teaching interests include Earth Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability and Risk Management and Geo Information System (GIS).
