John Lauermann is Assistant Professor of Geography and deputy chair of the Social & Behavioral Sciences Department at Medgar Evers College. He is an urban geographer who researches the planning and spatial impacts of large-scale real estate projects. His current project uses GIS to analyze the impact of luxury housing development on gentrification in New York City. His work is published in over 20 peer reviewed articles, in journals including Progress in Human Geography and Journal of the American Planning Association. He is an editor of the journal Human Geography.
