Mikey Elster is a PhD Candidate in sociocultural anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center. Their current dissertation research is on the ethics and politics of care of transgender pediatrics in New York City. Their research interests include medical anthropology, North America, gender and sexuality. Mikey graduated from Wayne State University in 2014 with a BA in Anthropology and received an M. Phil in anthropology from the Graduate Center in 2019. As of 2021, they teach courses related to urban anthropology, anthropology of sex, and research methods at both Brooklyn College and City College in the CUNY system.
