T. L. Fivek is a writer, teacher, and researcher living in Queens. She is currently a PhD student at the CUNY Graduate Center, as well as an economics lecturer at John Jay College. She earned her MSc in Globalisation and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. Before arriving to CUNY, she worked with the United Nations migration agency in the Middle East and as a labor organizer in New York City. She conducted research and reportage in Palestine, Russia, Iraq, Venezuela and Cuba, as well as from across the United States in the run-up to the 2016 presidential elections.
