Obtaining a GC Identification Card

Graduate Center ID cards are made Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. in room 9124. Below is more information on how to obtain your ID:

  • Students need to be on the Registrar’s list of enrolled students and bring a current validation sticker, which can be obtained in the Bursar Office.
  • Staff and faculty need to present an ID authorization card issued by Human Resources or, if hired through other means, a letter on Graduate Center letterhead from the Department Head, Executive Officer or Assistant Program Officer to Public Safety requesting an ID card.
  • Visiting scholars may obtain a temporary ID by providing a letter on Graduate Center letterhead to Public Safety from the hosting department. The document must include the beginning and end dates of the scholar’s appointment.

For those still working remotely:

  1. Email security@gc.cuny.edu from your Graduate Center email address. Put “ID Card” as the subject.
  2. For students, the email body must contain your name, program, and your mailing address.
  3. For faculty and staff, the email body must contain your name, program, and your mailing address with an attached copy of an ID authorization card issued by Human Resources or, if hired through other means, a letter on Graduate Center letterhead from the Department Head, Executive Officer or Assistant Program Officer to Public Safety requesting an ID card.
  4. Attach a “passport type headshot” JPEG picture taken within the past six months.
