Be Future Proof

Data analysis is driving research and decision-making in every social science field and sector. The M.S. in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences at the Graduate Center prepares students from a variety of backgrounds for a data-driven future.

Our affordable, interdisciplinary program is designed for experienced professionals and scholars as well as recent college graduates.

You will learn how to make sense of real-world data to help answer research questions, inform policy, and further our understanding of the dynamic relationships that exist in society. You will learn advanced data and statistical analysis techniques and the logic behind them. You will have the opportunity to draw on a variety of theoretical frameworks from fields such as sociology, political science, educational psychology, economics, and demography to understand the world we inhabit.

You will gain hands-on experience in using specialized software to acquire, manage, and assess real-world data, and will have opportunities to present your findings.

You can tailor your learning to your interests through our optional concentrations: analysis of socio-economic inequality at the global, national, and urban/regional levels; demographic methods; learning in digital environments; and quantitative methods.

Our convenient location in midtown Manhattan puts you within easy reach of the knowledge-intensive enterprises that are shaping the data revolution.

Program graduates are prepared to excel in a variety of areas, including policy-making and analysis, marketing, research, evaluation, social services, technology, media, health care, and education. You will also be well positioned for further doctoral study.
